The Birds...A Tale of Fowl Play

So, I have this thing with birds or should I say, they have a thing for me.
Not in the ‘AAAACK run for your lives’ Tippi Hedron way, but more in the Snow White-Cinderella, we love & adore you & want to sit on your shoulder & sing happy little birdie tunes while helping you make dresses & do your chores sort of way.

I first noticed it in Paris a couple of years ago. While admiring the awesomeness of the Arch de Triomphe, a huge flock of……………………pigeons tried to land on me. A British lady started screaming “WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO THE BIRDS”. The thing is, I didn’t do anything to them. They just wanted to be with me. I must admit it was a pretty frightening first encounter. Maybe Paris was where Hitchcock got his inspiration.

Since then, I have been more aware of the fair feathered friends in my life. The sweetest thing for me is when they come to my patio glass door & peak in, watching in curiosity as I peck away at some rather odd looking box.

My latest encounter was last week. During my morning walk, two amazingly beautiful ducks in perfect formation were flying at eye level (eye level for me is pretty low) & headed straight for me. Three feet in front of my face they dove upwards & over my head. I’m not sure what that particular aviation technique is called, but in what should have been an AWWW kind of moment (note J.K.) All I could think was “Please don’t ‘bleep’ on me please don’t ‘bleep’ on me!!”

I really am grateful for the chipper little chirpers in my life. They bring a little ‘Fairy Tale’ to the reality of my day! Oh, by the way, I’m still waiting on my Fairy Godmother to appear…
